Econotech
was originally the research and development division of Columbia
Cellulose, a large integrated forest products company with
mills in Prince Rupert
and Castlegar, B.C. In 1972, Columbia Cellulose decided to divest itself of
the division and it was purchased by the present owner, Ed
Becker and his partner
at the time, Paul Thomas. These two individuals had been managers of the lab
and decided to make a significant investment in its continued
operation as an
independent company.
The company started with eleven employees and in 1990 reached a high of 82.
In 2002, Econotech celebrated its 30th anniversary. Through our work for thousands
of clients, we have gained a solid reputation of meeting our clients needs
with
fast, reliable service. Econotech has clearly established itself as an international
leader in the fields of specialized research, development and testing for the
pulp and paper industry.
