Microscopy is as much an art as it is a science and requires
many years of experience to become fully proficient. Econotech’s
microscopy department has a total of over 35 years experience
in pulp and paper microscopic analysis. Our most frequently
requested test is qualitative species analysis. Species mixtures
can be identified on various materials and products; wood chips,
pulps and papers. Pulp type can also be evaluated.
Contaminant identification is facilitated by years of practical
experience. Wood-originating contaminants can be easily identified
under the microscope while chemical and synthetic contaminant identification is verified by instrumentation techniques
such as FTIR.
We use industry standard procedures, but can also customize
testing to your specifications. Whether it’s adapting our stickies procedure for your screen size or developing
a method to characterize fines, we’ll work with you to ensure the results
are suited to your needs.
